Why this must be read:
Originally written for the Sprog-o-thon in May 2005, this is one of the most unique takes on the John-and-Aeryn-have-a-baby ideas I have ever read. It's a very disturbing, yet possible what if scenario. To say more would be to give it away, but I will give you a taste.
Excerpt:
While he was still only a few cycles old, Pennoch discovered he was ... different.
"What does the War Minister bitch want," he overheard one guard ask another one day, "with that weakling Sebacean brat? It's never going to be any use - not like a real child."
The other laughed coarsely. "I don't know," he said, "but I'd like to be the one to give her a real child!" And the conversation went off in directions where Pennoch could not follow.
