Why this must be read: "Lords of Misrule" is one of the best Legolas and Gimli friendship/romance stories out there, and certainly a long-time re-reading favourite of mine. Fabula Rasa has structured this as a lovely, slow reveal of Legolas's true motivations towards Gimli, complete with misunderstandings and exquisite UST, while Gimli is his usual irascible, adorable self. This story is also incredibly hot, especially if you like al fresco sex scenes.

I don't dislike this pairing, although I usually have a little trouble reconciling it in my mind. However, this story manages to give a sense of believability to what I suppose is essentially a courtship, and I enjoyed the quiet little cameo from Aragorn. Thanks for drawing my attention to this as I would never have gone hunting for it on my own.
