Why this must be read:

Ron feels just right to me in each of these five absorbing pieces. They are set in years 1-5 consecutively, giving the entire fic a structure and a feeling of progress even though each is a separate AU. It's a beautiful and heartbreaking story, and one of the best "things that never happened" fics I have ever read. The five different possible endings for Ron, or for his friendship with Harry, give fascinating insights into Ron and also their relationship. I have seen others call this story "gen," and while I think that denies some aspects of the story, it's not primarily a romance.

So Ron hadn't had a bloody clue what he was doing, whether his tongue belonged in Harry's mouth, whether he could put his hand on Harry's waist. Mostly they'd pressed up against each other until they were all out of breath and shuddering, and Harry had looked at Ron, looked at him right in the eye and said, "I've thought about this more than dying."

(And yes, that's the subtitle in the subject line but the full title is just too long for a subject, and the subtitle is more informative. Sorry if that bothers anyone.)
