The "May All Your Dreams Come True" Affair by M.E. Wells (PG-13)

Fandom: MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.
Pairing: Napoleon/Illya (gen)
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: The Home of SEPIA

Why this must be read

At first I wanted to rec another story from M.E. Wells: The "Divided We Fall Affair", because I thought it was a perfect example of what could mean "commitment" in a partnership and all the capacity and willingness of self sacrifice it may imply, but, in spite of an obstinate search on line, I wasn't able to find it. It wasn't available in "File 40" and unheard of anywhere else. I eventually retrieved it with the help of [livejournal.com profile] frau_flora and [livejournal.com profile] lyrebird, by using the Wayback Machine but didn't feel free to display in the open something the author, apparently, don't want to give public access to any more. I sincerely hope this withdrawn won't last.

So, let come back to the present story: its significance is not very far from the former's and it has the pleasant advantage to be hosted in the wonderful "Home of SEPIA" site, where so many great artworks may be found. All the stories there are splendidly illustrated by the artist and this one is, I think, among the finests.

It's an angst story where nightmares play a big role; actually nightmare is the topic. It's difficult to tell more without telling too much and spoiling the suspense. You will find here a common element with the "Thrush Roulette" episode. Death, Fear and Guilt are looming, counterbalanced by Duty, Trust and Hope (sorry for the grandiloquence; it was tempting!).

If for you Man from U.N.C.L.E. fiction is the path to friendship and adventure, take this one fearlessly and, humm, you may also make good use of the Wayback Machine.
