After the Jedi purges, one of the few survivors finds Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine, but Obi-Wan's in no mood to face the past.

The solitary life of Obi-Wan on Tatooine between ROTS and ANH is an interesting blank that intrigues most SW writers into filling it with their own speculations: chance encounters, visiting ghosts, clone raid, regrets and endless desert bleakness. In this case it's Quinlan Vos, Obi-Wan's old friend appearing in Tatooine, both of them in hiding after the Jedi purges and grieving for lost companions and students. Obi-Wan seems to have gained a new wisdom through pain and disillusionment, and Quinlan finds out about the source behind it. There's a great insight into the psyche of both and the whole story is beautifully conceived and structured.
