Why this must be read: Because Batman and Superman both have pet DOGS! Who help them catch the bad guys! And it's canon!! (Okay, so the characterizations in this fic are drawn purely from the Krypto the Superdog cartoon, but don't let that stop you from reading this gem.) The character voices - yes, the dogs - are spot on, and there's interaction between Bruce and Ace that's absolutely perfect. The story is all about friendship and what you do for friendship, and it plays on the very real comic book theme of what Batman would do if he had to stop Superman. Yes, it's ostensibly a story about the characters' dogs - but really ... not so much. Just read it, even if you're not a fan of the Krypto the Superdog cartoon (although you should be - you could own a stuffed Bathound.)

"Hey there," Krypto cried, flying besides Ace's mini-Bat Jet. He was as bright and happy -- not to mention innocent -- as a puppy, Ace thought unhappily. "Let me guess. Bud and Lou are planning to rip off the joy buzzer factory?"

"No."

"Jimmy the Rat is working for the Penguin now?"

"No."

"You came to hang out with me and chase some cars together?"

"Unfortunately ... no," Ace replied, making sure to add the 'unfortunately.'

Read the story: A Collar Full of Kryptonite, and let the author know you enjoyed it.
