With Aeryn by his side and his children on board, he seeks an alliance with Earth to create a haven in space where he can finally be at peace. The lovingly drawn history of John and Aeryn and their family, as well as of his Earth family, friends, and what ensues when culture shock drives normal humans to the edge makes this story mesmerizing. There is politics, mystery, family life, love, violence, psychology, and enormous scope to John's journey home.
