Gadgets by Verlaine (PG)
Like so many fangirls, I love to see my favourite characters hurt, hurt, and hurt again. Oh yeah, and comforted. Yep, this week’s theme is h/c, but not just any old shoot ‘em up and tuck ‘em in bed fics, but ones that stood out to me as deliciously different.

Because Verlaine actually made me -- a cynical, tight jean-obsessed, torture-loving fangirl -- enjoy a h/c fic that was sweet, angst-free and, even scarier, not set in the 1970s. I’ve never been an ‘old guys’ stories fan, but I savoured this voyeuristic peak into the lives of older and little bit wiser Starsky and Hutch. Not only did “Gadgets” make me go “awwww” without gagging afterwards, Verlaine convinced me that a character’s hurts can be wonderfully comforted without soul-tormenting angst.
