Queen's Gambit by Rebelcat (PG)

And from super-angst, we now go to fun-angst, if there is such a thing. Hurting them is fun, after all. . .

Why this must be read:

I love Post-Sweet Revenge h/c, but “Queen’s Gambit” stands out because of Rebelcat’s deft use of loving humour between the guys. Recovering from his bullet wounds during a heat-wave, Starsky is hurting and Hutch’s air conditioner is broken. So, to comfort his wounded friend, Hutch suggests chess. Chess? With an extra rule and some fun twists, Starsky, Hutch and Huggy Bear all meet their match in this delightful hurt/comfort chess game.

Queen's Gambit

P.S. Rebelcat made my groovy h/c icons too. She's a multi-talented chick.

Starsky moved the king two spaces to the left

It's a lovely story, but.. unless the rules are different over the Atlantic, you can't move a king two spaces in any direction...

Castling

It's a move known as castling - same on both sides of Atlantic (speaking as a Brit who crossed the pond!)

Yep, Starsky was castling his king.

It's a real game, but not a complex one. I played it while writing the story. I'll be happy to send the actual sequence of moves to anyone who's interested.
