Harlequin Airs by Ellis Ward (NC-17)
Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: Ellis Ward's fiction can be found at the Hatstand Archive
Why this must be read: This is another example of A/U fiction, which is so prevalent in Pros fandom.
Ellis builds her world - a twenty-degree turn from Pros reality - with loving care, investing a lot in research and in thinking through the slightly altered characterizations of Bodie and Doyle. I particularly love the slow build-up of emotions between them, the falling in love that happens despite their own best intentions.
The supporting characters are interesting and fully realized, as well.

ETA: Fixed the broken link. Sorry about that.

and the link goes to "under construction". I'm sure that'll be fixed shortly, though.

Which is funny, because I think the last thing I could be described as is a romance fan. [g]
and the link goes to "under construction".
Ah, that would be due to my own inability to correctly format a link. Sorry about that; I'll fix it.

This is one of those love 'em or hate 'em stories... I know I'm in the minority.
MY AU of choice is Larton, though :)

Which I've never really been able to get into. (Talk about boring one to tears! [g])
It seems that a lot of Pros fandom is love 'em or hate 'em - styles, authors, a/u, etc. That's why I was going for the broadest selection of stories with my recs, even if I didn't personally like them.
Ahhh
Good for you!
I can't manage to rec a story I don't like... Well I can sometimes, but rarely.
Kudos to you!
:)
