Why this must be read:

This is a long, sexy, slightly dark, amazing story that's so hot it'll burn your screen. Seriously. Xander is so sad, and Te captures his feelings during the last half of the series so perfectly. I love the journey Spike and Xander take, both literal and metaphorical. And Spike...Spike is evil, still evil, but his feelings for Xander shine through.

Spike wasn't... right, but neither was he. Spike tended to get scary when he was angry, though, and that wasn't as easy to brush aside. There *would* come a time when Xander wasn't ready to get turned on by the snarl, by the way the game face brushed away *all* trace of fathomable emotion. And then what?

Can I just ask you, doesn't the whole "vampires HAVE to sleep during the day" thing bother you? It clashed with Canon in my head, and as much as I tried reading this fic - because I saw it recced a couple of months ago - I just couldn't.
Now that I'm seeing it recced again I really want to understand, maybe it's something that I, being new to fandom, am missing?

Yeah, that was weird to me, but I just went with it. This story was written years ago, when they hadn't nailed down the mythology yet, so she was ok to play around with it a little. I like how she used the idea anyway, so it worked out.

Ahhh, yes, this explains it. Thanks for answering, I do hope I didn't come off as bashing the fic or anything of the sort. I'll give it another shot when I'm done reading the current pile ^_^
