Why this must be read:
So it's nearly the end of my stint here and I feel the need to recommend something lighter (given previous recs were a little on the dark side). Also, I don't think there's enough credit given to really well written light comedy. It's not easy to write something effectively funny without being silly or sappy or ridiculous (believe me - I've tried). In fact, I think it's such a rare thing to see done well that I only have one author to rec in this genre. The rules don't go out the window when you write a happy story; you still need to surprise the reader, make it credible, make it original and for god's sake make it readable. This is a perfect example. Read and take notes.
