Why this must be read:
Because if April and Casey ever got married on-screen, this is how it would happen, with drama, family angst and ninja attacks. The OC is Megan, Casey's cousin, who invites herself to New York for a visit and gets a few unexpected surprises. ("Oh my god, maybe they're aliens!") And then the Foot Clan attacks and it all goes straight to hell.
The writing is a little rough in some places, (some punctuation problems) but overall quite good. I'm usually extremely wary of OC-romantic interests, but Megan's a fun character who spends a lot of time in the story banging her head against the wall and asking Casey how his life got so weird. My favorite character gets tortured a bit, Raph and Casey are almost as dysfunctional as Casey and April, there are some great fight scenes, and we learn once and for all that Casey's five-year-old daughter is the sanest person in the extended family.
Convinced that they were safe for the moment, she turned to face her sister, the decision made. Now was the time to tell her the truth; about the turtles, about her wedding, about everything. She took a deep breath and sat next to Robyn on the bed.
"April?" Robyn asked curiously. Why did she look so serious?
April sighed. "Robyn..." she began. "Do you remember those Italian guys I told you about...?"
