Why this must be read:
At once, this fic manages to be melancholy and hopeful. At the end of filming, Billy, Dom and Elijah gather together for closure before they go their separate ways. Things take a bit of a turn, however, when Billy asks a simple question. I love the boys like this, kind of vulnerable and very honest, and the characterization in this fic is spot-on, even if the scene is short. It captures the very essence of what I imagine it must be like to come to the end of something incredible.
Maybe one day he would have said that of all of this, wouldn't have remembered anything about this album or that poster except that someone had once given it to him as a gift. He doesn't want to think that's possible, but he can't swear to it. He can't promise it would never happen, and neither can they. Billy has tried to look past this, past the end of New Zealand, he really has. It just sometimes seems as if there's nothing to look to.
