The Tensile Strength Of Spider's Silk by algernon mouse (PG-13)

Why this must be read:

I think that portraying sweetness without becoming cloying is very difficult, but it's something that [livejournal.com profile] algernon_mouse always manages to pull off with ease. There's a tension in this fic that echoes throughout, a stylistic choice that is a very subtle nod to the title of the piece. It's quite quiet, though that quiet manages to belie the emotions simmering just beneath the surface. All in all, a lovely take on the progression of the Billy/Dom relationship.

Dom looks over at Billy with a level gaze. "Do you want me to stay?"

"I don't want you to go," Billy shrugs.

Dom slouches back into the sofa. He can feel Billy watching him quietly over his bowl. "I don't really want to leave," Dom says finally, and Billy nods. He likes this about Billy, his willingness to just accept things. Sometimes he thinks that Billy always knows the answer – long before Dom's even managed to form the question. It's like he's simply waiting for Dom to catch up, get back in the game.
