The Other Half Trilogy by DarthIshtar (PG-13)

Fandom: Star Wars Trilogy
Pairing: Leia/Han, references to Amidala/Anakin
Author's webpage: Generation Kax

Why this must be read: I am a hopeless AU junkie. I love "what if?"s. This is a long AU trilogy that diverges from canon sometime between the first and second movies. Luke and Leia are taken prisoner by the Empire and put on trial for war crimes. Then things get worse.

Part character study, part court-room drama, part action flick, this is long, plotty, and cleverly-written AU demonstrates just what Yoda meant when he said that there was another Skywalker. Leia is definitely the main character, though her friends and family get their say, too. I would quibble a bit with Luke's characterization: it's a bit too early for him to be tossing around the elevated diction and hints of mysticism. Both of the Skywalker men, in fact, are more talkative than their canon selves suggest. However, the flow of the plot and the strong Leia characterization better than balance out the flaws.
