Why this must be read: This story does two things that I love very much. The first is that it describes female pleasure as a hot, real, uncrass thing; sexuality is a central part of this Buffy's physicality, and while she's shown to be broken, she's still Buffy, making the hard choices. The second is that Herself has captured the overwrought romantic that's at the heart of Spike, without re-working him into something less, well, spikey. I love where this story ends, and it can certainly be read as a stand-alone, but it's the first part of the Bittersweets series.
