Why this must be read:

In a sense, reading this fic is like drowning along with Dom, because algernon_mouse's images are so powerful. There's a realism to this story that is often hard to capture without turning to melodrama, but the author here has done a perfect job of portraying Dom's slow descent into depression.

It's madness, this slow sinking into a mire that no one else can see. He is fighting with himself to listen to reason, shake it off, look on the bright side, but he can't because the humming is so loud that he wants to tear off his own ears to drown out the sound of it.

But wait.

That's just him, breathing alone in the dark.

Deep breath, deep plunge, deep throat. Just get! Get up, get showered, get out, get fucked. And he does for awhile. He fakes the LA smile and does lunch.

Does. Fucking. Lunch. Like Orlando, but without the smooth eyebrows and even teeth, and the birds lining up to suck him off and buy him dinner.
