Two Degrees of Separation by Susan

Why this must be read: Sometimes you're not ready for a forever kind of love, sometimes it takes time. Or sometimes you just haven't found the right person just yet. A person who can make you love despite of all the odds against you. A person who will be beside you no matter how many times you push them away. They stay because they know that you don't mean it. They stay because they love you just as much as you love them. They stay.
“At first it didn’t have anything to with you, with us. It was just me. And then later, when I wanted to tell you, I didn’t know how. And I’d have to tell you why.”
“Tell me now, Starsk.”
“I was looking for you.” It felt so strange to say it out loud, after all this time.
“Did you ever find me?”
Hutch put a hand on Starsky’s knee. It felt good. He hadn’t touched him in months.
Starsky looked at him and said quietly, “For an hour sometimes, if I was lucky.”
“And if you didn’t?”
“Lately? I guess I just took it out on you.”
When you can't have those that you want, you settle for those that they have touched. You settle for two degrees of seperation when all you want is one. You want them.
