Spirit Warriors of Angharad by ophelia (PG)
I'm your Star Wars PT reccer this month. I have a great many interests so I'll be going for variety, mainly.
Fandom: STAR WARS
Pairing: Obi-Wan/Other
Author on LJ: little help?
Author Website: Ophelia's Star Wars Fanfic
Why this must be read:
Note: that's 'Other' as in OFC. Now, I know what you're going to say. Honestly, this fic contains a perfectly likable original female character, one I could see Obi-Wan falling for, but that's not why I rec the story. This story is mainly about the relationship between a young Anakin and Obi-Wan and to some extent, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. Ophelia gives wonderful insight into how a teenager with a greater need for affection than his mentor can give would really react when faced with a terrible mission, one where he is forced to make some impossible choices on his own. This fic is looong, which I love, because it's able to explore so much in terms of plot and characterization. And, for the record, this is one of only two stories that ever made me cry.
Anakin rested his elbows on his knees and answered his own question. //You can't expect him to betray everything he believes in just because you were acting like an idiot. He loves you about as much as a Jedi's allowed to love anyone. Don't ask for more than that.//
Yet part of him rebelled at the thought: //As much as a Jedi's allowed to love anyone.// Anakin had never been comfortable with the Jedi Order's restrictions on emotion or its insistence that duty always come before love.
As a very new Padawan, he had railed at Obi-Wan's suggestion that he stop pining for his mother, even as he watched Obi-Wan choke back his own grief for Qui-Gon Jinn. Anakin had thought it was stupid that a Jedi was supposed to value ideals more than people. Furthermore, he suspected that Qui-Gon would have agreed with him. Not that you could say something like that to Obi-Wan. Not ever.
