The Lost Colony by Joolz - R
Fandom: STARGATE ATLANTIS/NUM3ERS
Pairing:Gen - no pairing
Author on LJ:don't know
Author Website: http://www.geocities.com/joolz4me/Storygateindex.html
Why this must be read:
I bookmarked this story when it came thru the Wraithbait RSS. The Lost Colony presents an interesting view of the Atlantis' crew and integrates the characters (Charlie and Don) into the Atlantis world in a believable way.
I especially liked how it makes us the readers look at the Atlantis characters from different perspectives. Joolz escaped the clichés of geniuses meeting and wrote an especially intriguing Rodney, and a John with hidden depths. I don't know if Charlie and Don are in characters. I haven't watched Numb3rs really. Saw one or two episodes here and there. I knew enough to understand who the characters are basically. But I rather liked Don in this. I found Charlie a little helpless but then again maybe the character does get lost in his head. What do I know.
The writing is solid and entertaining. The puzzle is clever and this universe begs for a sequel which the author says maybe there might be one.
All and all an enjoyable read.
