Why this must be read:
AUs can be a lot of fun, and this one stands out for the great interaction between Jim and Blair. Blair's been burned badly by the whole Sentinel thing in this story before he ever meets Jim, which makes him much more self-protective than he was in the series and pushes Jim to respect him more. But this subtle shift in the dynamic meshes perfectly with the characters' personalities and makes for a delicious read that I go back to over and over.
"Didn't anyone ever teach you to tape the zipper shut when you're camping?" He let out a disgusted noise. "Especially if you're alone in the middle of nowhere? Didn't you ever see Deliverance?"
