Why this must be read: This story is what I would call a True Thing. And not because the world portrayed within it comes rather closer to the real one than most fanfic(though it could certainly be said to do so). But because it tells practical, emotional truths - and beautifully. It hurts. It's a speech in a play or a letter never sent, the midnight discourse of a man who would know himself.
