Why this must be read:

Man, I'm so excited that I get to rec this while also a little surprised no one has beat me to the punch. This story fills the space in me that so wanted something to satiate me after Peacekeeper Wars--while the movie ended on a high note, I was left with an eager palate for more. David Hearne does an admirable job of meeting that desire in "The Next Frelling Generation," which propels us some thirty years after PKW into the life of D'Argo Crichton, for whom the Uncharted Territories are not only home, they are his playground. This is a long, intensely plotty story that creates a believeable and detailed world after the treaty-making in PKW, combining action, adventure, and an interesting, quirky new crew for Moya. This is wonderful. I can't reccomend it enough.

"Do you," the female visitor asked, "know how much trouble you're in?"
"Uh..."
"A lot."
D'Argo looked past her shoulder to the other man. "Hey, dad," he said cheerfully. "I didn't know that you were..."
"Oh, no, Little D," his father said. "I am not bailing you out of this one. You listen to your mother."
D'Argo cleared his throat and turned back to his mother's grim eyes. "You're in trouble," she said, "because you put Moya in trouble."
"Hey, wait, she and Pilot agreed to this."
"That doesn't justify putting her in danger."
"Well, next time we'll do something safe like rob a Shadow Depository or wear a fusion bomb."
Aeryn Sun stared at her son for a moment, then turned and stared at her husband as if to say, "This is your fault."
