Unbelieveably, incredibly, light-your-screen-on-fire hot. Whew.

Okay, now that I've got that out of my system, some more coherent reasoning. *grins* In the Gibbs/DiNozzo pairing there's a much higher than average amount of BDSM fic. It ranges from mild--this one is very mild--to pretty intense. Partly that is because we have a couple of very productive authors who are very fond of the kink.

But partly that is because the characters invite it. Gibbs has an incredibly strong, dominant, aggressive personality. But even more important than that are Tony's reactions to Gibbs. Despite his brash, outgoing, ladies man persona, Tony seeks out Gibbs's approval with something almost like desperation. A word of praise makes him light up like a Christmas tree. A critique makes him all but drive himself into the ground to make up for it. Heck, even Gibbs has called Tony his "loyal St. Bernard."

This story, aside from the incredibly hot sex, is about Tony struggling with what he wants and needs so much. He knows it'll probably destroy him and he's just barely hanging in there by the tips of his fingers. Fortunately for Tony, Gibbs knows just how to take care of him. zortified makes you feel it all with them--the ache of want, the desperation, the fear, the snap of relief and oh yeah, the blistering hotness.

BTW, you're so right -- there are very few authors who can take a kink and make it work in fic without losing canon characterization.

I'm pretty sure the link used to work, but the author had web server problems awhile back and had to buy a new domain name with the hyphen inserted. Alas, I don't seem to be able to edit this entry now. I made it, but I guess you can't edit entries after your posting period is over on crack_van.
