Crossover fanfiction is difficult to write well, so I tend to be pretty choosy about reading them unless someone has already recommended them. Well, it’s my turn to recommend, and I realized that I really couldn’t think of any Avengers crossovers that hadn’t already been recommended here or elsewhere. I freely admit to inputting some search terms on the AO3 and just trawling through looking for anything interesting to read. I’m glad I did, because I found several excellent stories…and a few series I’ll need to keep an eye on. But this one was especially fun: Fandom: Avengers movie!verse/Person of Interest/NCIS/Criminal Minds/Leverage Pairing: None (gen, although the author tags this as "implied relationships". I interpreted this as "slash goggles optional") Length: 3,245 Author on LJ: None that I could find. Author on DW: scripted-sraAuthor Website: sarcasticsra on AO3Author’s Summary: Five computer geniuses and their asskicking counterparts get locked in a room... Why this must be read: Because it’s absolutely hilarious. Because the characterizations are spot-on to the point that I could hear each actor’s voice in my mind as I read their dialogue. Because it’s indulgence of the best kind: wanting to see the way these characters would interact with each other. Because the brain/brawn relationship is a tried and true classic, and the best examples make it new and wonderful all over again. Press Zero for Assistance on AO3

Flung Roses, Roses by polly bywater (NC17) Fandom(s): The Sentinel, NCIS Pairing(s): Jim/Blair, Blair/Tony, Tony/Gibbs, Blair/Jim/Tony Length: 25,000 ish Author on LJ: only on Dreamwidth Author Website:http://polly-bywater.dreamwidth.org/Why this must be read: Why read this? It set my screen on fire, it made me cry, it made me think twice and it made me want more. Being an NCIS crossover, I Will go ahead and warn *Gibbs lovers turn away Now*! The faint of heart should also turn away, you might have a heart attack with the hotness of the sex, or from the Powerful emotions from all involved. There is also an unfinished sequel, but since we can’t rec them, I will just point out that it exists. Summary: by self: When Blair finds Tony in a conference it is both the beginning and the end of a lot of possibilities. By the time Gibbs and then Jim come into the story all heck has broken loose. I liked the spot on descriptions of the NCIS team. Not for the Gibbs or Abby lovers, but perfect for the Tony droolers! Link: http://polly-bywater.dreamwidth.org/44911.html Flung Roses, Roses

Awakening by The Tenth Muse1 (NC17) Note from van driver: Yes I know I missed the crossover day yesterday, but sometimes real life steps in. Or should I say, trips and falls. My mother fell and hurt her entire right side, if her shoulder doesn’t get better, she could be facing surgery. If you could, lift up a thought for her. But it shouldn’t delay my stories again, I have several lined up now to just cut and paste. Now, on to enjoying the stories. Fandom(s): The Sentinel, NCIS Pairing(s): Jim/Blair, Tony/Gibbs Length: 16075 Author on LJ:http://www.madbrilliant.com/thetenthmuse1/index.htmlAuthor Website: http://www.squidge.org/ncis/profile.php?user_id=00008Why this must be read: This crossover of The Sentinel and NCIS shows Jim and Blair in the role of helping a fledging Sentinel and reluctant Guide find their way in this wonderful new world of smells, sights, touch, sounds, tastes and feelings. Yes, I know that is more than the regular five. And this is more than a regular story. Summary: by author: NCIS/The Sentinel crossover. Tony comes home from a solo camping trip only to discover an overwhelming awakening in his senses. Blair and Jim help both Tony and Gibbs in learning to deal with being Sentinel and Guide Link: http://www.squidge.org/ncis/story.php?stid=00021 Awakening

Fandoms:The Sentinel, NCIS Pairings: Jim/Blair, Gibbs/DiNozzo Length:5422 Author on LJ: could not find one Author Website: http://www.ncisfiction.com/profile.php?user_id=00009 Why this must be read: I Love “First” times be they the first time senses come on line or first kisses. This story has both and a lot more of Jim and Blair being themselves and Gibbs and DiNozzo trying to figure out who they are now. While short this story still covers all of the wonderful points that are Sentinel and Slash. Yes I know, another crossover, but I felt this shows the importance of the relationships in different stages. Summary: by author– NCIS Agents Gibbs and DiNozzo learn some of the finer points of sentinel/guide behavior while Jim and Blair debate the nature v. nurture of attraction. Four Military Men by Lady Ra(R) Multiple fandoms: The Sentinel, NCIS, StarGate 1, StarGate Atlantis Pairings: Blair/Jim, Tony/Gibbs, Daniel/Jack, Rodney/John Length: 45,127 with Great pictures throughout for added effect. Author on Live Journal: http://www.visionsofprettyboys.com/home.htmlAuthors Website: http://ladyra.Livejournal.comWhy this must be read: Beyond having four very hunky couples, and yes this IS slash, as will be most of my recs, this story is just plain fun! The author calls this crack fic but I think it is much much better than that. I also love this story because once you reach the story it is availabled in several eBook formats also. Summary:by author: Blair, Tony, Daniel and Rodney all meet in high school and become good friends. When their twenty year high school reunion comes around, Tony decides to get them all to attend--with their significant others. Fandom: THE SENTINEL, NCIS Pairings: Jim/Blair Characters: Jim Ellison, Blair Sandburg, Dr Mallard, Jethro Gibbs, OMC Length: 24516 words Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: Legions ArchiveWhy this must be read: For the details and plotline alone. Summary: When Jim and Blair break into a secure national facility to review Jim’s file, they discover a lot more than they bargained for. If you enjoy reading a story that delves deeper into the Sentinel/Guide scenario then this is a great read for you. It’s a well written, plot driven story that takes Jim and Blair on a voyage of discovery and enlightenment, where Sentinel and Guide work together to unravel the sensory clues left behind for them. Along the way their paths cross with a greed driven man who for nefarious reasons, seems determined to follow them to discover what he believes to be, a ‘hidden’ treasure. Please be aware that while this story *is* a crossover with NCIS its primary focal point is The Sentinel; in the grand scheme of things NCIS plays a relatively small, but cruical role. Okay, before I run out of gas, I'd better drive back and hand over the keys to the NCIS crack_van. I did thoroughly enjoy taking another ride with you all, and I hope you found some old classics or maybe new favorites you liked. Last but definitely not least I'm leaving you with one of my personal favorite stories, which I hope you'll enjoy just as much as I do whenever I re-read it! :) Fandom: NCIS Pairing: according to the author, it's Gibbs/Tony, though I'd categorize it as gen with heavy UST Length: about 16,750 words Author on LJ: little_ozzoAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: This story features a several of my favorite things: It focuses on the Gibbs & Tony dynamic/relationship. It's a "Five Times..." fic. It's a "what if" scenario explaining the Gibbs/Tony (or Gibbs & Tony, as it were) background in pretty inventive yet still very plausible ways. It features both Jackson Gibbs and Tony DiNozzo Senior. It's incredibly in character. It's charming and sweet and funny and angsty. And it proves once and for all that Gibbs and Tony were meant to be together (be it as lovers, friends, team mates, whatever)--Fate is on their side! :) (Ginger Snaps)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/Tony Length: about 3,100 words Author on LJ: unknown Author website/archives: eoenkethry.comWhy this must be read: Eoenkethry write some of the best NCIS stories out there. "And Other Duties As Assigned" has a special place in my heart because it's funny as hell, shows us competent Tony, portrays everyone perfectly in character, and proves once and for all that Gibbs can't live without Tony. Even and especially in the bedroom. *g* (And Other Duties As Assigned)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: none, gen Length: about 45,000 Author on LJ: unknown Author website/archives: FFNWhy this must be read: So, do you like competent Tony? Because I sure do! And this story shows how amazingly competent he can be. The characters--most notably, of course, Tony--are spot on, we get to see Tony in all his obscure-yet-brilliant Very Special Agent glory, and Vance finally realizes that Tony isn't a liability but the best gosh darn Senior field agent NCIS has to offer. Besides, you can't not love a story that features a scene that starts with, "Agent DiNozzo, two Mounties, a guy from La Unidad and a hotel waiter go into a karaoke bar..." :) (Obstructed Views)

Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Tony/Ziva and Gibbs/Tony Length: long Author on LJ: lit_galAuthor website/archives: litgal.orgWhy this must be read: Anyone who knows me also knows that I'm an anti-Tiva-shipper. And yet, I'm reccing a story that features this pairing. Why? Because it's so awesomely written that I can actually see this pairing. The fic doesn't actually focus on the sex part; this is about the emotional and psychological ramifications of a D/s relationship gone wrong. It ties in beautifully with canon (season 6, in case anyone wants to avoid spoilers) and explores the characters (be it Tony, Ziva, Gibbs or Abby) realistically. The only complaint I have is that there isn't more to this story. It needs a sequel. So Very Much. (Stageplay)(next installment: Peripetia)(next-next installment: Skene)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Tony/Tim Length: about 4,800 Author on LJ: my_young_friendAuthor website/archives: AO3Why this must be read: I love "how they got together" stories. And this one is so brilliant and funny and, well, realistic that it fills me with glee. The author got the boys' voices down pat, and the whole thing is just so true to the characters. I love that the whole story takes its sweet time before Tony and Tim actually end up together. It's almost as if we, the readers, are being courted throughout the fic. And really, the very last line? Kills me every single time I read it. :) (On We March)

Fandom: NCIS Pairing: gen, with non-explicit Tony/OFC mentioned Length: long Author on LJ: blackchapsAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: Okay, this story will not be for everyone. It features non-con elements (not overly explicit) and some violence. Some may consider the story to feature kink, most notably puppy play, though it's very clearly not portrayed as part of kinky play between two consenting adults, so I'm reluctant to label it as such. Basically, to sum it up, Tony is forced into puppy play by a girl friend, sold to a kennel and then saved by Gibbs. But it's so much more than this! What I love so much about this story is the psychological aftermath of a Tony who has been kidnapped and basically brainwashed. Gibbs doesn't get the whole puppy mindset but grudgingly helps Tony anyway, allowing Tony to escape into the puppyspace he clearly still needs. The story is gen, and not even overly father-son, but it shows the strong (platonic) love Gibbs has for Tony, how he instinctively knows what's best for the younger man and helping him heal by accepting the, shall we say, quirks and offering his support in his typical Gibbs-like way.
As a wonderful bonus, Abby is totally awesome and kick-ass in this story.

Vidder: Mélanie Musical Artist: The Barenaked Ladies Pairing: none/gen Characters: Tony & Kate Vidder on LJ: unknown Vidder Website: you can find her stuff under "fanart" right hereWhy you must watch this vid: I think that Mélanie is, hands down, the best vidder in this fandom. Her vids span all genres from hilariously funny to tear-jerkingly sad, from shippy to gen. I cannot rec her enough! Which is also why I had a hard time picking just one video to rec, to be honest. I finally decided to rec this one because, even though I've always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with Kate, Mélanie shows us the wonderful sibling rivalry between Tony and Kate that I adored so much. It's funny and sweet and will make you nostalgic for the first two seasons of NCIS. (Kate vs. Tony)

Fandom: NCIS Pairing: gen, mostly, with focus on Gibbs & Tony father/son (there's Tony/OMC mentioned) Length: about 4,300 words Author on LJ: slashscribeAuthor website/archives: AO3Why this must be read: So, do you enjoy Gibbs and Tony's father/son dynamic? Because, let's face it, it's more canon than the slashy undertones. ;) I adore a well written father/son story, and "A Little Liquid Courage" is the perfect example of how it's done right. It's sweet and awkward, with a nervous Tony needing reassurance and Gibbs being there for Tony in his usual gruff way. Brilliant all around! (A Little Liquid Courage)(There's also a bunch of sequels in which Tony comes out to his other team mates. You can find the stories under the Tony/OMC tag.)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Tony/OMC, Gibbs/Tony pre-slash Length: 8480 words Author on LJ: dustandrosesAuthor website/archives: AO3Why this must be read: This story is rough, brittle, painful, heart-wrenching, but also smokin' hot and exciting. Please do heed the warnings, because there are explicit scenes filled with kink in it, but damn, they're so brilliantly written. I only wish there was a sequel exploring the Gibbs/Tony dynamic that's hinted at at the very end of this story. Still, if you're feeling adventurous, please do yourself a favor and read this story. The OMC alone is worth it (and I'm usually not a big fan of Tony/OMC!). (Rough Comfort)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: none / gen Length: about 2,000 words Author on LJ: gilascaveAuthor website/archives: right here and on AO3Why this must be read: This being the crack van, it's high time to rec a cracky fic. And it doesn't get much crackier than "Issums Bunny" (and it's brilliant sequels). Tony turns into a rabbit whenever he's terrified. I don't think I need to say more, do I? Except that you'll laugh until you cry when you read this fic! :) (Issums Bunny)And, because I'm in the mood for a three-for-the-price-of-one treat, here's the sequels: (Deadlier Than The Mail)(A Thousand Words Are Worth One or Two Pictures At Least)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/Tony Length: almost 500 words Author on LJ: gibbsgirlabbyAuthor website/archives: FFNWhy this must be read: This ficlet makes me flail with happiness whenever I read it. To be perfectly honest, there's a bittersweet moment once we learn what happened to Gibbs, but the overall sweetness of the story makes more than up for it. This is one of the most endearing, adorable future fics I've ever read, and I'd personally love this to be the very last scene we'll see in the show's final episode. (Tony's To-Do List)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/Tony Length: about 1,700 words Author on LJ: kaylashayAuthor website/archives: http://www.kaylashay.com/Why this must be read: Kayla is one of the authors I could easily rec a dozen times this month, so it was a bit difficult to pick the one story per author I allowed myself to post. I finally decided on this story because it's short and sweet and proves that Gibbs and Tony were always meant to be together. Kayla ties their respective pasts together in a brilliant and very believable way that will leave you teary-eyed and sniffling (in a good way!). (A Little Care Goes A Long Way)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: gen (author classified it as pre-slash, but it really only gently goes in that direction in the sequels which can be found linked to at the end of the story) Length: about 4,700 words Author on LJ: iniqAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: This is another classic that I'm surprised hasn't been recced before. The basic premise is simple: Tony DiNozzo is a deaf ex-cop who helps Team Gibbs out on a case. Kelly is still alive, though Shannon is dead, so Gibbs is a single father (and very protective of his little girl who just happens to be friends with Tony). I love the characterization throughout the story. Tony is still Tony, smart, funny, and not afraid to butt head with Gibbs. Besides, his Hearing Dog Elisha is awesome and totally reason enough to read the story! :) (strange men who push girls on swings)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: gen Length: 525 words Author on LJ: donutsweeperAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: This is a very short and very heart-wrenching ficlet (unless you don't know Tony's backstory...in which case, you'll probably just go "huh?"). But if you do know what happened to Tony during his College years, you'll read this and wince at the mere thought of what will happen next. It's written perfectly in Tony's voice and gives us a glimpse into the pre-series character. Go read! And then give Tony a virtual hug. He'll need it. :) (The Big Break)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: gen Length: 1,773 words Author on LJ: unknown Author website/archives: FFNWhy this must be read: Since it's obviously close to Christmas *g* I thought we could do with a holiday-themed fic rec! I have a soft spot for this little gem because it features Ma Mallard (always adored her character!) and shows a side of Tony we usually don't get to see. It's bittersweet and heartwarming and makes me want to have seen this in canon. (A Christmas Carol)
So, the season finale aired last night, which means we'll have to wait until September for the next new episode. Guess that means we need some nice, preferably long fanfics to keep us busy over the summer, right? How's about this one then? Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/Tony Length: over 66,000 words Author on LJ: laura_trekkieAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: From the author's summary: "Gibbs and Tony go undercover to try to bring down a people-trafficking ring. Things go wrong and Tony is hurt, but Gibbs is there to help him through it." And that's it in a nutshell, only it's so much more at the same time. The entire second half of the story is full of amazing, heart-felt, loving hurt/comfort (poor Tony really gets whumped). Everyone is wonderfully in character, the plot is intriguing, and the writing is top notch. Please do heed the warnings, just to be on the safe side, but believe me, the story is well worth reading. (Undercover Consequences)
Okay, it's collision time today, and I must have driven the NCIS crack van way too fast without looking where I was going, because I collided with a fandom that...nobody probably thought would be possible to write a crossover with. Which makes the whole thing even more awesome. Fandom: NCIS/The Simpsons Pairing: hinted at Ziva David/Ned Flanders and Jenny Shepard/Seymour Skinner Length: about 2,000 Author on LJ: unknown Author website/archives: NFAWhy this must be read: This has got to be one of the crackiest stories I've ever read, and it's so hilariously funny, you'll laugh until you cry. The premise is, obviously, completely ridiculous: Ziva and Jenny having to deal with Ned Flanders and Seymour Skinner from The Simpsons as their respective Valentine's Day dates...and yet, that's why it actually works! Go ahead and give this fic a try -- I dare you! *g* (Blind Diddly Date)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: gen Length: 400 Author on LJ: ami_venAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: This ficlet is short and yet tells us so much--about the team, their closeness, their friendship. It will break your heart and make you go "aww" and then you realize that this is exactly how you want it to happen in canon...preferably sometime in the far, far future. *sniffles* (The Last Scene)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/Tony and very slight McGee/Abby (blink and you miss it) Length: about 4,700 Author on LJ: lisgreomgAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: I needed a good laugh after the day I had, so I went to read this gem again, and now I'm chuckling and giggling and wiping tears of laughter away. Some would call it cracky, others might just consider it brilliant humor--either way, this story will make you laugh out loud. The basic premise? Gibbs is a Stupidhead who shot down Tony (aka Loverboy) because of Rule 12. And so Tony decides to follow all the rules to a T, just to show Gibbs how stupid his rules are. And the rest of the team is very excited to help make Stupidhead see the light during "Operation: Wedding in Vermont". And they are so wonderfully devious about it. You'll almost feel sorry for Gibbs. Almost. *g* (Operation: Wedding in Vermont)(There's also a sequel: Just another Wednesday!)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: this is mostly a gen/friendship/father-son story but there are some pairings featured as well Length: epic Author on LJ: matt51Author website/archives: WWOMBWhy this must be read: I'm surprised this story hasn't been recced before. It's an epic tale of a young Marine named Gibbs meeting a little boy called Tony and their journey together through the years. You definitely need to take the time to really delve into the story, get to know the OCs (of which there are many, but they're pretty much all awesome) and allow yourself to be swept away by this epic AU. You can't help but fall in love with the characters, and even though this is as AU as it gets, they're all still most definitely the characters we know and adore. There's joy and heartache, funny moments and angst, and through it all, a bond between Gibbs and Tony that is so strong, nothing can't keep them apart (even though it may look like it a couple of times!). Please do heed the warnings in the story header, but believe me when I tell you that it's well worth giving the story a try anyway. (Through The Years)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: none / gen Length: short Author on LJ: rinkleAuthor website/archives: unknown Why this must be read: We all loved "Frame Up", didn't we? And many a tag was written based on this amazing episode. But "Murder Will Speak" gives us a "what if?" scenario that will chill you to the bone and make you look at the entire episode in a different light. Brilliantly written and devastatingly twisted, yet scarily believable. You'll never see Tony in the same light again, trust me. (Murder Will Speak)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/Tony Length: almost 1,500 words Author on LJ: dinozzoitisAuthor website/archives: FFNWhy this must be read: We all know that Gibbs is a functional mute, right? But that doesn't mean he can't express how he feels about Tony. This story blew me away the first time I read it. The fic captures a quiet, intimate moment between two lovers in which not a single word is spoken, and yet so much is said. (The Things He Cannot Say)
Fandom: NCIS Pairing: none / gen Length: 1,463 words Author on LJ: sequitur_ficAuthor website/archives: FFNWhy this must be read: sequitur_fic writes (well, wrote, as apparently there are no new stories *sadface*) some of the best NCIS humor stories out there. "Found in Translation" combines some of my all-time favorite things: humor, whumped!Tony, loopy!Tony, team friendship, not to mention in character voices. This story has Tony trying to communicate with his team mates while he's suffering from a concussion. Unfortunately, his English-Marine, English-Geek and English-Smug dictionaries need some...tweaking. *g* (Also? There are Monty Python quotes. You can't go wrong with a story that features Monty Python quotes!) (Found in Translation)
