“Dead Weight” and “Live Wire” by Killa (PG and NC-17)
Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Duncan/Methos
Author on LJ:
killabeez
Author Website: Killa’s Adventures in Melodrama
Why this must be read:
“Dead Weight” begins with a Methos who believes he’s gotten over Mac, a delusion he can’t hold onto for long. The aptly named sequel, “Live Wire,” is narrated by Duncan, and it follows Duncan and Methos for a day as Duncan slowly realizes and contemplates his own feelings for Methos.
The joy of this piece is in its pacing and in the depth of emotion between the characters. It depicts a Methos and Duncan who are wonderfully, extremely in love with each other and finally in a position to let themselves fully realize those feelings. The tension in the story mounts beautifully. The reader can feel the electricity humming between Duncan and Methos, and when they come together it’s as hot and romantic as anyone could hope for. It’s simply a lovely look at how these two characters could come together.
