Why this must be read:

C.W. Walker is one of the most recognizable names in this fandom; she's fan, media scholar and prolific author. Many of her stories have been rec'd here on crack_van, with good reason. One of the hallmarks of her fanfic is a uniquely gritty realism, drawn directly from her technical advisor's experiences. You see, st_crispins's technical advisor was her father, an ex-Navy pilot.

One of the themes in the St. Crispin's story universe is the passing of ideals and knowledge from one generation to another. Sub Rosa is a perfect example of this theme: here Napoleon's daughter, imbued with her father's ideals, is gifted with very special knowledge from Illya. The torch has been passed from one generation to the next, still burning brightly.

Through her stories, C.W. Walker safeguards the flame her father handed to her. Although her father recently died, he lives on in her stories. And we are all much richer for that.
