Living by Matthew Haldeman-Time (NC-17)

Pairing: Backstreet Boys/*NSYNC/*98 - including but not limited to JC/Justin, Nick Carter/Drew Lachey/Brian Littrell, Nick Lachey/Jeff Timmons, AJ/Lance, Chris/Howie D., + more, etc.

Why this must be read: For my last rec of the month, I must offer up the author/epic that ate my brain, made me love *NSYNC & *98, and admit, "Hi, my name is Elizabeth, I'm a popslash-a-holic, it's Matt's World and I just want to Live in it." Living is a giant multi-part series that starts with JC/Justin but quickly expands to include the 'Big Three'. No, I was not kidding in the Pairing box; it's all that and more. ;-) The dialog is fresh, free, and incredibly real. Despite the size, the author keeps the pace moving at an incredible rate through most of the story - yes, there is a couple slow points but surprisingly few - and allows the guys to age, mature and grow. Relationships begin, grow, flourish, sometimes die, but always the men keep Living. It's sexually graphic, deals with a surprisingly broad range of topics, takes all of the characters through more changes than any pop fic has attempted before, and yet, is intensely personal. It's life at it's best and worst with even the world giving its' opinion on the boybander's lives.
An extra nice bonus the author provides is a place to discuss this mammoth undertaking, The Drewboard; so while you're reading, feel free to drop off comments. Plenty of your fellow addicts will be around to commiserate.
And after you have finished the series, read the 'Slices of Life', over 50 short stories set in Living universe provided by Matthew to fill in some of the story that never made it 'on-screen'. They are available at the bottom of the Living page.
When you've made it through the wonderful world of Living, I also recommend spending a couple months enjoying the rest of Matthew's work at Sweet Uncleanness both on and off his RPS page. Order his original work. Even try his ER /, it's incredible. (I can't believe I just wrote that.) Then, you may be ready to try the work he is presently in the middle of, Sucker. But don't try Sucker until you've read everything else. You've been warned!!!!

So glad to see someone else who loves him here. I'm off to SU again. This got me interested again and I'm working my way through Road Trip right now. Thanks for the comment.
