MfU: Window by Katya Baturinsky (G)
Hi! I’m sensine and I’ll drive you through MfU land during August. I’ll give you an eclectic collection of stories, and since I’m a slasher with Napoleon and Illya close to my heart, that’s what you’ll get.
So this first entry might come as a surprise – it’s told from another character’s pov and it’s not explicit. BUT – I can’t tell you how much I love this story.
And Katya? Repeat after me: “I will never take this story down from the internet!” :D
Fandom: Man from UNCLE
Pairing: Illya/Napoleon (no explicit scenes)
Author on LJ:

Author Website: thisiskatya
Why this must be read:
And again: I looove it! The wonderful, slightly melancholy mood leaves me smiling happily for hours after I’ve read it. The story has a sort of spicy, warm feel to it. Besides, Katya has a way of getting straight to the point and showing the characters true to who they are in the series, even through this outside pov. Also, she manages to make Illya so Russian. It’s easy to forget that Russian is not just an adjective – it’s an integral part of who Illya is, despite years exposed to other cultures. We follow Illya from his first day - and -

Really touching and well done. And a good example of hor OC characters can be used productively.

And a good example of hor OC characters can be used productively. It is, isn't it? And those old ladies are so wonderful here.

And yes - I couldn't believe it wasn't here, it's among my favourites for a warm, good read. Illya is so Illya :)

The characters are so well written, I thought I was sitting in the window myself. I hope that one day I will be able to write with such style.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
