Why this must be read: This story struck a deep personal chord with me. I read it for the first time very soon after the death of my grandmother. I don't want to give to much away, but I am not ashamed at all to admit that my boyfriend helped me through the week of her death, her funeral and after, the way that Scott and Logan help Jean and Marie in this story.
Another reason I really like this story: Even though I call myself a diehard Logan/Marie shipper, I really like the character of Jean Grey; I really like the character of Scott Summers; and I really like them paired together. (I don't mind seeing them deeply in love and having sex, either!)
Victoria is a dedicated writer. She takes her craft seriously and it shows when you read her stories. Her work always touches me on a personal level. I think that's because she is one of the best (IMHO) at making these superhero-mutants seem like ordinary humans -- people we can relate to.
