Why this must be read: Because it's probably both one of the best and, for some reason, least talked about Trickyfish stories and it deserves to be more widely read. It's the time of the lawsuit and they're exhausted, having been looking at papers the whole night, when Lance suddenly asks Chris to run away with him. And they do. Climb out of a window and walk away, wondering for how long they'll be able to escape. While we follow them on their meanderings through a harshly sunny Orlando and see how their relationship develops in the here-and-now, we get flashbacks of how their interactions have changed and developed since the start of the group. Oh yes, and Lance has one of his best and most evil ideas ever!
Excerpt: Lance pulled him by his shirt down a side street, and Chris laughed the whole way. He finally dug his heels in and demanded that they stop, because he couldn't catch his breath, but had been worth it. "Man, that was fun. You are a star with your ideas." He took Lance's face between his hands and kissed him noisily on the nose.
Lance took a step back. "That was dangerous," he said. "We could get arrested."
"What, for a little kiss on the nose."
"Wha- no." Lance looked confused, and Chris decided it wasn't fun to play headgames with him when he was this tired.
"Look, Lance, we crept out of a window. We are going to be in so much shit no matter what we do at this point."
They looked at each other for a while. Lance took a shaky step back and sank down onto the pavement. He leaned his head in his hands. "I feel weird."
Chris noticed that Lance's hands clasped over his face seemed to be twitching and jerking slightly. He looked down on to his own hands and felt it too. It must be the coffee, he thought, and fisted them. "You're just tired."
