Why this must be read:
They say begin at the beginning, right? I've recently become enamoured of good fic dealing with the development of Mulder and Scully's relationship early on in the series. Scully's rigidity and Mulder's acerbicness combine into some wonderful UST on screen. But how did it mold itself into the incredible partnership we see later on? This vignette is a subtly crafted example of how it might have begun, set post-Pilot.
On nights like this, when it was late and quiet, Mulder often thought he might see the ghost of J. Edgar sashaying down one of the darkened halls in a pair of stiletto pumps. He could be wrong. The old man may have preferred sling backs.
