Cannibals and Chlorine: A Love Story by Gina Rain (PG)
Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Scully
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: The Rain Room
Why this must be read:
Further proof that less is very often more, especially in an emotional landscape, this is a brief look at Mulder's thoughts and feelings post One Breath. The banter is spot on: poignant and full of wit. The narrative is sweet and heartfelt without being saccharine and the UST is subtly woven. Oh, and did I mention it's beautifully written?
In some ways, it was worse being without her now than when she was actually missing. It started with a vague sense of unease, which quickly progressed to a full-blown paranoia that could only be assuaged in one way.
