Why this must be read:
Back in the day, the Angel writers gave us a prophecy - Angel would someday live again. And in the summer that followed S1, fanfic writers gave us many different versions of the blessed event (some of which will also be recommended). There were many happy schmoopy Angel-reunites-with-Buffy fics, others turned him human with disastrous consequences (for him or for the world). Rowan went a slightly different route, creating an AU where Angel is something quite different than what we know him as.
This piece is incandescent, bringing to mind baroque paintings of suffering saints and back-lit stained-glass panels of transfiguration.
