The Grating by Archer's Aim PG13
Fandom: Hornblower
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: No
Author Website: N/A
Why this must be read:
This is a fic for everyone who's ever debated the "Who Pushed Sawyer?" question. It raises an even MORE important question: "Who left the grating open?" I'll not spoil the story by naming the character the author chose for this purpose but it offers a lovely perspetive nonetheless and is a great look into his mind.
Cautiously, he pulled the grating up, his arms aching with the strain of holding it well above the deck. With a muffled grunt, he lugged the grating into the shadows with him, settling down to wait for the one who deserved punishment.
He wasn't doing this for himself. He was doin' it for the boys. /Someone/ had to stop the madman before he killed them all.
