Why this must be read:
This is a really funny season 9 based fic. Because SG1 have been affected an Ori device and now, well, now Sam, Daniel, Cameron and Teal'c have a slight case of being zombies. Not that that throws the SGC off after years of the not quite explained. And SG1 are still absolutely themselves, save for the cravings, the decomposition and the tendency to focus a little above the eyes of whoever they're talking to.
The fic has great character voices for all of SG1, including a visiting Jack. Likewise, the Jack and Vala interaction is great, and as for the final mission? Well, after zombies SG1 ought to have learnt to expect the unusual.
SG-1 wanted to tag along, of course. Carter argued that they might need someone along with her technological know-how. Teal’c spoke of his desire to thump some Priors over the head. Mitchell talked, with a truly scary level of fervor in his voice, about how great it would be to see Jack and his old team in action, to participate and contribute to the original SG-1, how it would be like a dream come true. Daniel argued that, hey, he just wanted to go.
Jack countered with, "Carter, you can’t be relied upon to shoot a gun when your fingers keep falling off," and "We can’t send someone dependent on a foreign substance on a mission without a predetermined length (no, tretonin’s different)," and "There’s too great a risk that they’d detect us from the trail of shedding skin (tretonin is too different)," and "That plan stinks! You’re not going! (It just *is,* Teal’c)."
