Why this must be read:

And for my very last rec, I have decided to pick out one of the rare goodfics from a genre that has been rife with some very, very bad fanfic since it's inception - post-Doomsday Rose fanfic. Because what happens to Rose after the events of Doomsday is an unknown that quite a few people have an interest in, and the fics that show an actual unique and realistic take on this are worth being treasured.

This fic not only has a realistic take on Rose - showing her get over her past and start to move on, without destroying the string influence of the her time with Doctor - but also has some great characterisation of Mickey (and a few neat parallels). And a great unique little take on a means for moving on. It's one of my favourite post-Doomsday fics (for Rose's characterisation, at least), and I hope people have enjoyed the fics I have recommended!

"Rose? Mickey's here to see you again. Isn't that nice? He's got something for you."

Rose didn't say anything. She just pulled the blankets a little tighter around herself and slid a little closer to the wall.

Jackie and Mickey exchanged a look, and then he stepped into the room.

"Hello, Rose," he said, and he sat down on the bed next to her. He reached out and stroked her unwashed hair. He half-expected her to flinch away from his touch, but she didn't react at all. That was almost worse.

"I've got a letter for you," he said. "At least, I think it's a letter."

She said nothing.

"It's from the Doctor."

Rose slowly turned over to look at him.

"Right, yeah," she said slowly. "'Cause the interdimensional mailman popped by, did he?"

Mickey grinned. "Something like that, yeah."
