November's RPS fandom: U2
Hi, I'm
lydia_petze and I'll be pimping for this month's RPS fandom - U2. The timing could not have been more appropriate, what with their stalled Vertigo tour getting its motor running again as we speak :-)
Anyways, a brief overview, as I'm sure these guys don't need much in the way of introduction:
From left, that's The Edge (also known as Dave Evans) - lead guitarist, and Bono (also known as Paul Hewson) - singer. The guy with his hands on Bono's backside is Adam Clayton - bass guitarist and the shirtless fellow is Larry Mullen Jr - drummer.
With nearly thirty years of shared history under their belts, no compunctions about public displays of affection, a number of incredibly slashy quotes, some damn slashy songs and concert pieces, a domesticated, almost married way of dealing with each other, a habit of going on holidays together and buying jewellery for one another, and even a few excursions into the wonderful world of cross-dressing, it's no real surprise that U2 has a slash following. I hope I'm qualified to pimp this fandom - although I am a long time U2 fan *and* a long time slash fan, I've been combining the two for less than a year. I've spent the last month second-guessing myself and trying to distribute recs evenly among authors, genres, eras and pairings, and all I can say is, I've done my best :-)
The two main online sources for U2 slash are the Love is Blindness archive and
u2slash. The Processor is also a good jumping off point, sort of a U2 slash hub - no fic there, but lots of pointers. There was another archive called Stories For Boys, but last time I looked, it was down. A lot of authors were also displaced when fanfiction.net tossed all the adult fiction off a few years ago, but that was before my time and I don't know exactly who was around then. Please note - if you like what you see here and want to read more, the best thing you can do is join
u2slash, and *please* remember to display your birth year on your LJ info page, they won't take you otherwise.
If any longer-term fans have any corrections to make about online U2 slash homes, please feel free to correct me!

I used to read a lot of U2 slash back before the
pit of volesfanfiction.net turned into a prissy republican aunt and dumped all RPS. There were some amazing stories there and sadly some of the authors have removed their stuff from the internet completely. I'm not up to date with the recent fics at all so I'm very much looking forward to your recs.hello, hello!
I know about the fic-o-caust on ff.net, and it saddens me no end, because I'll probably never get to see a lot of that stuff. Sucks on me for being late to the party.
A LOT of the recent stuff is housed more or less exclusively in the memories section of
Re: hello, hello!
Also, I knew I vaguely recognised your user-name, so I shamelessly snooped on your LJ, and yes, we have a friend in common (
But yay! U2 slash recs!
Re: hello, hello!
I won't talk you put of it :-P Just remember to put your birth year on your info page, I have a couple of friends who had trouble joining because they didn't have that on there first time. Nothing to do with the admins, but for some reason that second attempt doesn't seem to make it through the ether :-)
Snoop away, I love finding friends of friends, although since SGA and SPN are two of The Fandoms of the Hour, it's not all that weird that we have people in common :-)

You people are *evil*. Like I needed another fandom to obsess over...well, I guess it was only a matter of time. It has been too long, too, since U2's been in heavy rotation on my playlist.

You're an instigator, and I mean that in a very good way. :) Many thanks.

Also, I read on your user info page that you're not 18 and therefor not allowed to read the higher rated stuff on

I went through that rec list like there was no tomorrow when she gave it to me. :)

The way I credited the people letting me use their icons, was that I uploaded them, then chose "manage userpics" and in the "commentary" field just put in "icon by" and the LJ user. Like this (leave out the + spaces): icon by <+lj +user=+"+lardencelover"+ /+>
I hope this makes sense.
Also, I've put my own writing in an unlocked journal called
