Fandom: White Collar RPS Pairing: Matt Bomer/Tim DeKay Length: ~15k Author on LJ: angelita26Author Website: Angelita’s Master List Why this must be read:This story is “real person fiction,” which I know isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if it makes it go down any easier, the characters are placed in an AU where Matt Bomer owns a bookstore and Tim DeKay a customer that wanders in one day and they basically fall in love at first sight. It’d be a typical rom-com type of setup (and the writer is hella-talented, so never a disappointment), but there is an added twist that makes it all the more interesting: Matt is, in fact, disabled. From there, the story becomes a charming depiction of the complications that come out of someone who has never had to deal with a differently-abled person, and the difficulties (and joys) that can bring to them both. It is a lovely series, and hope you will read it. Link to the Master Post: Bookstore AU

Fandom: HOCKEY RPF Pairing:Patrick Kane/Jonathan Toews Length: 34,060 words Author on LJ: svmadelynAuthor Website: Author page on AO3Why this must be readBecause it's generally awesome...and I dig the author's apt summary: "Kaner tries to fuck his way out of love. That goes as well as you might imagine. But liketheroad's summary is also applicable: In which THERE IS A BACHELOR AUCTION TO SAVE ALL THE PUPPIES OF CHICAGO AND TAZER IS THE ONE WHO HAS TO SAVE THOSE PUPPIES AND KANER TRIES TO FUCK HIS WAY OUT OF LOVE BUT OH TOO BAD FOR YOU KANER, YOU HAVE TOO MANY FEELINGS FOR THAT." There's a lot of angst and feels, because Johnny is emotionally closed off (not a stretch, methinks). Patrick is a ball of emotions, also not a stretch. armed with every precious failure

Fandom: HOCKEY RPF Pairing: Ryan Whitney/Various, Ryan Whitney/Taylor Hall, offscreen Maxime Talbot/Various Length: 25,550 words Author on LJ: s0ckahtoaAuthor Website: Author page on AO3Why this must be readThis story is hugely entertaining. It starts out with a cracky premise (a bet gone way out of control), and it becomes a story of real depth and characterization. Folks who don't like hockey can enjoy it as original M/M fiction--the hockey is not central; the friendships are. It's Just a Thing

Fandom: HOCKEY RPF Pairing: Jeff Carter/Mike Richards Length: 19,502 words Author on LJ: musical_junkieAuthor Website: Author page on AO3Why this must be readSoul bond stories are popular in the Hockey RPF fandom, and this story is a good example. It's also unusual in the level of detail in the world building. There's no sex in the story, so if you aren't into explicit slash or this pairing, you should definitely give the story a try. It's very interesting. The Eighth Sense (On AO3 - locked to registered users)

Fandom: HOCKEY RPF Pairing: Jeff Carter/Mike Richards Length: 6580 words Author on LJ: grim_lupineAuthor Website: Author page on AO3Why this must be readDeaging because of repressed feelings is a something you find in this fandom. I won't try to explain the appeal, but I have enjoyed some forays in this area of fic, and this is one of my favorites, in which Mike Richards is deaged to being 18 years old. (Ugh, I would hate going through that stage again!) I enjoyed this story because Mike wasn't a little kid; I don't find that version of deaging as appealing. Also, Carts was Richie's friend back when, and that long-term friendship is the only comfort Mike can cling to in the story. So sweet! beating like a hammer (On AO3 - locked to registered users)
