Sports Night is back on the crack_van itinerary this month, after a brief, enforced pitstop caused more by voter apathy than by lack of material to be recced. New SN fic is still being posted on a regular basis – much of it by equally new, or new to the fandom, authors – and, with that in mind, that's what I'll be bringing to you: the best of Sports Night fic from 2006.

I'm beginning with one of the loveliest Sports Night fics I've ever read, written by one of our newest and, I'm happy to say, most prolific authors, catwalksalone.

Why this must be read: Because it's Dan, young and eager and elusive as the wind; it's Casey, yearning and clumsy, forever two steps behind. It's lyrical and tender, it's brimming with unspoken passion, and it's beautiful. I wish I had written it. But, since I didn't, I'm glad that catwalksalone did.

We got chucked out because no-one wanted to do the reccing, and i couldn't do it every month. Don't think I wouldn't have if i could. But I signed up for the small fandom rec as soon as it happened, and it worked! Hurrah! It's even the right time of year - because I have a Christmas fic I want to rec.

I love it when a plan - no, wait, that's this month's other small fandom. (One in which I have also written, albeit a long time ago, you will be amused to know. I won't be getting recced there, either, mind you, because it was waay before most of today's fandom was even thought of.)

I don't think any of the stuff my friends and I did has been put online. We were writing at the time the show originally aired - my flatmate was on the committee of an A-Team fan club called, appropriately enough, SCAM, and the small zine press we ran at the time put out four A-Team Files - and everything was on paper. If anyone's had the time to retype it and post it anywhere, I haven't heard about it. In fact, I don't even know whether there are any paper copies around. Sorry!

My only problem is, there's been so much great stuff this year, how do i pick just 12? And, with people like catwalksalone and lordessrenegade being so prolific - not that I'm complaining!! - it makes the choice even tougher.

But mostly I'm just glad that we're back (again - if only for this month. Although I say we should be a full-time fandom - it's just irritating that we haven't enough people prepared to do the reccing).

Also, this is a great rec--I really enjoyed it. I haven't been keeping up with a lot of new SN fic, so the theme you've chosen is a good one (because it is all about me).

Ah, but you at least signed up even if you did forget to actually make any recs ... - that's still more than most other people were prepared to do, and that's why we got kicked off.
