Between the Bars by Spooky (PG)

Why this must be read: There's a lot of stories out there that look at what Kara and Lee's relationship might have been like before the miniseries, that try to flesh out the moments that came before what we saw onscreen, but this fic, in my opinion, is one of the best. With clear writing, and spot on characterisations, this fic is a must read.
"You tracked me from the Lounge?" She asks, her voice flat but with an edge of ice.
"That's right," he tells her, ignoring the ice.
"What are you? A frakking stalker?"
The ice is replaced by heat and she's just a step closer. He's always been fascinated by that fire -- it scares some, but he's never been afraid. In the long, dark hours before dawn, he can admit to himself that he savors the burn.
"That's right, Kara. I love watching you self-destruct. It's my sole purpose in life." Of course, he's got heat of his own. They're probably too volatile a mix for their own good.

I'm new to BSG (just working my way through the first season), and I was glad to see a rec for a story this morning that I could read without spoiling the rest of the series for me.
Thanks also for turning me onto such a fabulous writer! I checked out "Lee, at the End of the World," also at the author's site. That's another jewel! (Only complain with that one was the last line, which I thought made the story less impactful.)
