Judging the Future was the first Gibbs/Ducky fic from Sharpiesgal who is better known for her CSI Miami fics which are wonderful to read
However I am concentrating on this particular NCIS fic whereby a drama which happened in his childhood has particular reference for Gibbs in his adult life today.
Sharpiesgal shows us that events in our childhood can still affect us deeply in our adulthood to the point of crippling us. However Gibbs' crutch comes in the form of his ever there partner.

"I have a confession to make, Duck," Jethro said as he joined his lover in
bed.
"And what is that dearest?" Ducky inquired, gently. He snuggled into Jethro's
embrace content to be held by the younger man.
"I lied to the team today."
