Why this must be read:
In honor of Robert Vaughn's birthday today, here's a delightful and insightful Napoleon-centric story. At first glance a disabled travel agent and an international spy have nothing in common, but appearances can be deceiving, in more ways than one. An evening on the town proves they are more similar than either could have imagined. Their encounter proves something else, too – that there's more than one kind of steel, and it can define people in tangible and intangible ways.
The characterizations in this story are terrific: Emily is an intriguing, vivid person in her own right and Napoleon is revealed as an incredibly complex individual. Even the minor characters shine as distinct personalities.
There are adult situations in this story, so although the label says gen, it is still for mature readers. It's a terrific read, chock full of insight into people in general, and one specific man in particular.
I hope you enjoy this story as much as I do.
