Why this must be read: This is another story that I can't believe hasn't been rec'd earlier. doomcrayon premises this story with "Kara and Lee are held captive following a Cylon attack." and it is that, most definitely, but it's not only that. Well paced with clear writing, this story will stay with you long after you've finished reading.

She examined Lee's wounds in more detail: four angry stripes that carved into his side, scabbed along the shallow edges but completely raw towards the center. It was hard for her to even consider. She'd done the required medical courses, though they were lost upon her now. It was bad. That was the only idea she could force out of her mind. He had to have been on at least some pain medication, though, because he seemed more concerned about her reaction to his wounds than to the wounds themselves.

"They don't hurt very much," he told her, then added quietly, "if I don't breathe."

"I suggest you keep breathing, or I'll kick your ass," she replied.
