Why this must be read:
In-frame humour seems rather rare in Tolkien fan-writing, so this vignette was a welcome giggle. There's also a very precisely characterised original character in no danger of Mary-Suedom. Alawa isn't yet a well-known author in the fandom, and I'm not sure why, she's very good! A snippet of a teaser:
"I don't hold with embalming much myself. Personally, I think that nature should simply be left to take its own inevitable course."
