Why this must be read: This pieces takes a unique approach to showing us the relationship between Jack and Ennis, and for that, I love it. The writing style is no-frills, used to full effect because of the no-frills nature of their relationship, yet at certain points (just like in the original novella) a turn of phrase will refract light like still waters that run deep. It’s short and really says it all. A lovely ficlet that explores how two people who can’t say much with their words say a lot with their actions.

Did you know I found this fic the day after I saw the movie? It was my first BBM fanfic I read bar none. A true landmark.

How appropriate that it's my first rec ^_^ I'm sad to say I don't remember my first one because I was swimming so deep in devastation that I just devoured PWP and AU and none of it very memorable because I was taking it all in so fast.

I don't think I read this one until flowrs4ophelia recommended it, but yeah, it solidified in my mind as an instant classic when I read it. This is certainly an author I wish I could talk into taking on a fanfic100 table, hehe.

Wow...Thank you so much for rec'ing me. This is a first, besides being rec'd by my sister, which almost doesn't count. This is a big surprise, especially since it's been - what, a year? - since I wrote this?
What is this community, sort of a place to sample new fandoms? Looks interesting...I read your overview and I think you did a great job, especially with the character descriptions of J&E. Oh, lovely day.

Hehe. Yeah, I decided since this community has no BBM recs as of yet, that it would be good to start from the beginning of the fandom and work our way through. And as planetgal471 said, this is a pretty landmark fic :)

Basically this is a place where a certain list of "full time" fandoms have recs posted all the time. Smaller fandoms are featured, as well, and this month happens to be focused solely on small fandoms.

Glad you liked the overview! It really was mostly taken from planetgal471 and I agree that she did a wonderful job describing the characters :)
