Twin Peaks/X-Files (NC-17)
Title: The Bureau, by Hth
Pairing: Dale Cooper/Fox Mulder; refs to Cooper/Rosenfield, Cooper/Annie, Mulder/Scully, Mulder/Krycek
Author on LJ:

Author Website: Sweet Dreams
Warnings: Spoilers for Twin Peaks season two, w/ post-series extrapolations; spoilers for The X-Files through season four
Why this must be read:
This was one of the earliest TP/XF fics I read and it remains a favorite, even though Hth claims, “It was the first full-length slash story I ever wrote, and it's just. Not what I wish it were.” The story does have its flaws — apparently Albert’s changed his last name to Rosenthal — but Hth treats all of the characters with sympathy, understanding, and no small amount of wit.
Take, for example, the moment when Hth acknowledges the most direct link between the two shows:
Then there’s the scene in which Scully calls Mulder at a moment when he’s, er, debriefing (sorry) Cooper:
If nothing else, read it for the spectacle of two attractive, haunted men attempting to prove “that when the human body is invoked, the human soul has remarkable powers of recuperation.”
“The Bureau” is at gatefiction.com, The Basement, and the Bookhouse Boys Archive.

Cooper gave him a reproving looks. "I happen to know some fine agents in the DEA. Actually, one of them reminds me a great deal of you."
"Yeah, what's his name?"
"Denise."
"Thanks."
"No, no. She's a man."
Mulder rolled his eyes. "Don't help."
Then there’s the scene in which Scully calls Mulder at a moment when he’s, er, debriefing (sorry) Cooper:
"Fox," he chided, the words pleasantly surprised out of him.
"Mulder? Who is that?"
"Well, whose room did you call?" he asked reasonably. "It's Agent Cooper."
"He calls you Fox?" She couldn't have sounded more shocked if she had heard a male voice call out Lord and Master.
If nothing else, read it for the spectacle of two attractive, haunted men attempting to prove “that when the human body is invoked, the human soul has remarkable powers of recuperation.”

And, yeah, the link's not working.

I’ve added more links for the story, so even if gatefiction.com is down you should be able to read it somewhere.
