Why this fic must be read:

This is a really lovely interlude with an introspective Desire, thinking about Dream. I've always been facinated by Desire because s/he is so...mysterious. And this fic really caputres that elusiveness, that otherness. I love how it categorizes Desire's schemes, which, in the series, were always portrayed in a negative light. This shows Desire's perspective on his plots and, if it doesn't excuse them, it at least gives them a context.

Also, the last few lines kill me, each time.

Interesting and well written, but not quite what I've been wishing for -- a story that shows the other facets of Desire. Or shows what happens when Desire is taken out of the world for a while, as Dream was. Despair isn't just the hook in the flesh. She's also found in the absence of desire, the flat gray place where nothing moves because nowhere is better than anywhere else.

In any case, desire has treated me so gently that I'm always willing to be Desire's Advocate.
