So what happens to Gibbs’ boat when he’s finished it?
Lonelywalker describes Gibbs’ negative mood perfectly, all his women don’t stay. There’s a sense of fear in the way she writes Ducky, but that’s probably because Ducky knows, like all of us, that Gibbs can be a little unpredictable at times.
But, apart from the angst, there’s also fun.
Excerpt:
“Used to go fishing here,” he explains without me asking, squelching through the mud in his old marine boots, searching the area with his flashlight. “Never caught a damn thing.”
“Ah, well, you were probably using the wrong type of bait,” I suggest. “My uncle’s estate in Scotland was always good for catching salmon, provided, of course, that you knew what to feed them.”
He heads back towards me, obviously having found what he had been looking for. “What did you feed them, Duck?”
“Strangely enough, mushy peas always did the trick.”
“Mushy peas? You expect me to believe that?”
“No,” I admit. “It was worth a try though.”
He slaps me on the back, smiles grimly, and goes back to the boat, pulling on the ropes that tie it to the trailer. “What I don’t understand is why they all have to lie to me. Every relationship book I’ve ever read says one thing: you have to be honest. But we just never talked.”
I raise my eyebrows. “You read relationship books?”
“Come here and help me with this,” he says. “And if you dare repeat anything I say to anyone, you’ll be in cold storage for a month.”
